The Inspirations of Yves Saint Laurent
Visit the legendary designer’s private home to see how Marrakech influenced his life and work – and then sit down to a dinner inspired by his Moroccan motifs.
“Before Marrakech, everything was black,” Yves Saint Laurent once said. “This city taught me colour, and I embraced its light, its insolent mixes and ardent inventions.”
In a private tour of Villa Oasis, the Moroccan second home Saint Laurent shared with Pierre Bergé, you’ll see the books, paintings, objets d’art and décor that the designer carefully chose to surround him while he worked. You’ll continue through the Majorelle Garden, filled with rare plants and dotted with structures painted in the vivid blues and yellows beloved by the home’s original owner, French painter Jacques Majorelle, and Saint Laurent himself.
Afterwards, step into the newly opened Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech for a private guided tour. Behind its terracotta façade, the museum's contemporary interior houses a rotating collection of 200 haute couture pieces from Saint Laurent's archives, along with thousands of books about the designer, fashion and Arab-Andalusian culture.
Return to the Resort for a sur mesure (“tailor-made”) menu based on the colours, textures and shapes that influenced Saint Laurent’s designs during his time in Marrakech, Paris and Algeria, where he was born. Prepared by Executive Chef Thierry Papillier, the personalized dinner is accompanied by a curated selection of Moroccan wines.
