• Minca Village sunset in the Sierra Nevada

Get a personal introduction to a community that has maintained its traditional lifestyle for centuries – and to the natural wonders that surround it.

Hidden high in the emerald forests of Colombia’s Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains sits Mulkuakungui Village, home to the Kogi, an indigenous community whose rich culture and traditions have remained unchanged for centuries. The Kogi consider themselves to be the guardians of the earth, living in harmony with their environment in a lush region that they call “the heart of the world.”

Departing from either Four Seasons Hotel Bogotá or Four Seasons Hotel Casa Medina Bogotá, begin your experience with a 45-minute private jet trip to Santa Marta. Upon arrival, a helicopter will be waiting for you to start the 45-minute ride between the snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada range, soaring over the imposing platforms and circular terraces of Ciudad Perdida – the Lost City – built by the Tayrona people around AD 800. Upon arrival in the mud-and-thatch Mulkuakungui Village, you’ll spend an hour with the Kogi as you get to know their customs, rituals and lifestyle. Each guest will receive a traditional handwoven fique backpack before departing.

Boarding the helicopter again, you will head north over Tayrona National Natural Park, the outfall of the Don Diego River into the Caribbean Sea and the glistening waters of Cinto Bay on your short flight to the coastal city of Santa Marta. Landing at Mirador de la Reserva Natural, you’ll have four blissful hours to explore the reserve’s dramatic landscape before returning to the private jet that will take you back to the Hotel in Bogotá.
